Selmer Paris Mark VI Tenor, 1959, US Assembled, Original Lacquer, Beautiful Condition
OK. You all know about these. This is an original lacquer Selmer five-digit first series Mark VI tenor. It has a rich, resonant, vibrant, meaty sound and a solid center, slightly more spread.
Approximately 90% of the lacquer is remaining. Most of the lacquer wear is visible on the side of the body tube and the side of the bell. The rest of the lacquer wear is distributed quite evenly between the body, bell, bow, and keys. There are no major dents to speak of. A few small dents have been removed from the bow. Part of the bell rim was bent and repaired. It is only cosmetic. One foot of the low C guard was resoldered. Pads have metal resonators and are in very good condition. Sax has original neck with matching serial number.
It is nice and focused with the characteristic "weight" to the core of those early 80xxx's. The altissimo is smooth and effortless, and the dynamic range in all registers is fantastic.
